Dank Holiday Monday

How do you spend a Bank Holiday Monday when it’s tipping it down with rain? Obviously we don’t want everyone staying in our wonderfully appointed Talbenny Hall holiday cottages, wearing them out, using the electricity, burning the logs so thoughtfully and aesthetically arranged in the log baskets! No! so why don’t they all go off to a place where one lot of our regulars go every single day, come rain or shine? Where is this Shangri La?  Could it be in Yorkshire or Derbyshire. Maybe not they’re too far away. Perhaps they’re after some of that Wensley… cheese stuff, or off to read some old lady’s diary. What about visiting a kennels where they breed those great big airey dogs, or even to visit that Winton bloke off the telly!  None of those, they go just down the road to Dale! I don’t know why, I mean it’s a nice enough place; sea, boats, bit of a beach, cafe, pub, a forty place, oh yes and apparently the highest sunshine rate in Wales!!!!!!!!!!

Nerds

Broadly speaking I’ve joined the band! Get it? We’re now on broadband. Is that how you say it?  Whatever, it isn’t easy getting banded, unless you have young kids, or a nerd for a friend! Luckily I fall into the latter category. What if you have neither, and no interpreters to explain the language: modems, ethernet port, USB and ADSL cables, uninstall! what’s that all about? But, when it’s all done and you are banded, you sit in front of the computer and, it doesn’t work! Enter the nerd!  ‘Yes well we’ll have to tweek the urforator so that the wadge-wobbler recognises the frinch scringer and it will be OK as long as you off-loaded your magno browser and paid the bill’  Sorted, so now which bit of me needs to be enormous, and since when did I know all these ladies from eastern Europe and how come it’s that easy to get rich, when everyone else is suffering from the credit crunch?  Tell me what’s going to happen when money is obsolete and all my transactions are carried out by my computer? I’ll be destitute, miserable and starve to death slowly, unless of course I’m still friends with my nerd!

Is it Summer?

Saturday 3rd May – pouring with rain, hold on it’s stopped! what’s that? can’t be , it’s the sun. Hey that party on the beach this afternoon may be on!  Best play safe and take extra jumpers, waterproofs etc you never know.  Kids in the sea, everyone down to tee-shirts, too many sherbets, stagger off the beach at sunset ( 8 o’clockish) call in at the Swan for a celebratory, one for the road, never to be repeated drink. My girls were in the World Gig racing championships at the Scillies and came 9th out of 100 boats after all!  And then it was Sunday, and the sun is still shining, it must be Summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
