Summer is long gone and Autumn is over. Winter is upon us. ‘Where do you live in the Winter?’ we’re often asked, or ‘What do you do with yourselves in the Winter?’ Hey out there; this is Pembrokeshire or Canaan (Land of milk and honey!) Where else would we want to be. As for what do we do? Well tilling the fields, curing the hams, mending the nets, stuffing the bolsters with fresh straw, there’s no end of fun to be had!! As for the weather, we probably won’t see a hard frost the whole Winter through, and a walk on the cliff path on a clear February day is just as spectacular as in June. Even the gorse will be in flower! The tides ebb and flow, Marloes beach still looks fantastic, and it’s not unheard of to lie on a sheltered rock and take in some warm sunshine. OK so there won’t be many people about, the pubs in Little Haven may be a little quiet and will have roaring open fires just to remind visitors that it is indeed winter back inland. So get yourselves sorted and take a break in Talbenny cottages, and enjoy a slice of our winter!

This is a whole new world for me, as it’s my first blog, and I feel that the title ‘Rod’s Rants’ may be a little misleading. For those of you who already know me will realise, that far from ranting, I am a ‘Ghandi’ like figure. I exude calm, patience, tolerance, and love for my fellow man, and of course woman, for if nothing else political correctness is my byword.
As time goes by and I become more confident in expressing my pacifist like views on life, and I learn to communicate with those of you kind enough to read my missives, perhaps I may even encourage people to visit us at Talbenny Hall cottages (as paying guests of course, this is no charity!!) and enjoy the peace and tranquility which we feel is unique to our business. We are trying to make a living after all!
There are vacances for Christmas and the New Year, so stop just looking at the pictures and get yourselves to Talbenny Hall Cottages and put a stop to any rants that I may be developing.
